School Notes for Week of October 5th

  • Welcome May Khoo! We are happy to welcome a new face to St. Francis this week! May comes to us from the Yale-MayKhooChina program and is a Teaching Fellow.  She will be at Goshen assisting Qianxin Zhu (and teaching a section of 6th grade Chinese) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and on the Downtown Campus assisting Bob Jones on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  May is a native of Malaysia who received her B.A. in English Studies and B.Ed. in English Language Education from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she co-founded several student organizations and was actively involved in volunteer programs within and outside the university. Prior to the fellowship, May served at a school, a non-governmental organization and a multilateral organization in various capacities. With her wide-ranging experience in the education sector and keen interest in human capital development and cultural exchange, May aspires through her fellowship to forge partnerships between communities in the United States and Asia for better understanding and overall advancement.
  • Friday, October 16th is Goshen’s annual Halloween Dance for Middle School students in Grades 6th – 8th. The fun will be from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. in our Multi-Purpose Room, and admission is $5, with proceeds benefiting the Class of 2016 Class Gift. There will be a costume contest with prizes for the Best Boy and Girl costume in each grade. Parents, we’d love some help with decorations! If you have some appropriate (but not too scary!) Halloween decorations you can loan us, we’d appreciate it! Drop them off late in the week in the Multi-Purpose Room or at the front office and we’ll take it from there.
We also need several Middle School student volunteers to help decorate from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please email Reed Gabhart
  • All 7th and 8th grade students and their parents are invited to attend From Goshen to Downtown on Tuesday, October 13th from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. on the Goshen Campus. There will be coffee and light refreshments, as well as a panel comprised of former Goshen students and parents to introduce you to our High School, explain why they chose the Downtown Campus and answer any questions you may have! This is the perfect opportunity to learn about the next step in your child’s St. Francis journey. We hope to see you there!
