Track and Field
The MS track and field teams were at Assumption Green on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Derby MS Track Meet.  The cool morning air let way to some breezy spring weather as the afternoon progressed, and the Wyverns had a great day.

The girls finished 4th overall as a team out of the 24 girls’ teams at the event.  Their finish was highlighted by a number of outstanding performances.  Individually Ryane Jones, Grace Donovan and Alexa Von Feldt paced the Wyverns throughout the day.  Ryane placed in her three individual events, 1st in the 200M, 2nd in the High Jump and 3rd in the 100M, as well as 2nd in the 4X100M Relay.  Grace, a member of that same 4X100M relay team, also placed 2nd in the 400M and 6th in the 100M.  Alexa placed in both throws events, 5th in the Shot Put and 7th in the Discus. The 4X100M team was rounded out by Chloe Church and Anna Hardwick-Jones.

The boys did not place as a team but did have a number of outstanding performances.  Ford Middendorf and Angus Middleton both placed in two events – Ford was 3rd in the 110 Hurdles and 6th in the 800M.  Angus finished 4th in the High Jump and 6th in the Triple Jump.  Isaiah Green and Caden Kirby also placed in the Triple Jump and Shot Put respectively.

The MS Baseball team played host to Collegiate on Tuesday night as one of their two true home games of the season played at Buechel Ballpark on Goldsmith Lane.  The boys faced a tough-hitting team in the Titans, falling behind 3-0 after the first inning.  They regrouped in the second to take the lead 4-3 behind good hitting from Stevaun Butler, who drove in three runs on a single to centerfield.  But in the top of the 3rd, the Titans started hitting the ball well and stretched their lead to 11-4.  Levi Tyler scored the final run for the Wyverns on a wildly-pitched ball.

The MS Baseball team was back in action on Wednesday night at KCD taking on Highland Latin.  The Wyverns jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.  Defense and pitching was solid all afternoon, shutting Latin out through four innings.  The offense clicked, scoring multiple runs in four of the teams five at bats. Connor Gorman led the offense, going 2 for 2, scoring three runs while also netting an RBI.
