School Notes for Week of May 18th

  • Welcome to two new staff members! Kim Hales joined us last week as our new Director of Development. Kim has a wealth of experience in development, gained over the last eight years working for the Jewish Community Center as Director of Fundraising and Special Events, as Development Director for the U of L School of Nursing, and most recently as Development Director for the Speed Museum. Her two children will join us in the Lower School next year. On Monday, our new Admissions Director for the Downtown Campus came on board. Trisha Amirault is a Louisville native who attended the Brown School. She then attended Mercer University where she received a BS in Education and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership. Trisha began her career in admissions right out of college in 2010 at Mercer, most recently as Associate Director of Admissions. Her territory included Kentucky, so she has visited the Downtown Campus several times to recruit our students, which caused her to grow very fond of St. Francis and send us an application when we posted the position. Please welcome both Kim and Trisha to St. Francis!
  • Learn to play polo! On Saturday, May 30th, Alta Vista Farm will host a St. Francis Polo Clinic run by SFS parent Chad Middendorf. This clinic is open to everyone, and you do not have to have riding experience! Click here for more information.
  • The High School summer reading book (all grades) is Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five. A particular edition is required (so that all students can use the same one in class next fall) and will be available at Carmichael’s this summer! More details about the book and particular edition will be available on the web site late next week.
  • Senior Parents: Please remind your students that Graduation Rehearsal is at 3:00 p.m. next Thursday (May 28th) at Actors Theatre, and they need to arrive at Graduation at 3:00 p.m. next Friday (May 29th) at Actors Theatre. (The ceremony starts at 4:00 p.m.)
  • A big thank-you to the 11th grade families who assisted with the Senior Luncheon or are helping out at Graduation: Edwards/Kuhn, Saliga, DeVries, Demarco/Stetson, Wourms/Johnson, Borden, Davenport, March, and Diaz. We appreciate it so much!
  • Sign ups in full swing for Goshen’s “Camp Curious” summer camp. Click here to find out more!
  • Sign ups for Camp Shakespeare are still open! Register for Kentucky Shakespeare summer camps held at the Downtown Campus June through July, available to ages 4-18. For details, see
  • Sign up here for St. Francis Day at Camp HiHo. As it turns out, Thursday, May 28th was the only day available this year, which means Camp HiHo Day conflicts with the Goshen Campus Graduation. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes some families.
