Head of Campus Suzanne Gorman, February Thoughts

The SuzanneGormanWyvern Varsity Quick Recall team capped off a perfect 11-0 season in the Louisville Non-Public Schools League with a win in the league tournament. They then notched second place in the Governor’s Cup District Tournament and will be advancing on to the Regional Tournament. • Alexis Nelson ’18 is ranked 2nd among all female high school basketball players in the state in scoring and 8th in rebounding. She currently owns the St. Francis single-game scoring record (which she and James Risley ’17 have traded back and forth this season) at 45 points.
  • Jillian Morrison ’17, Kendall Johnson ’15, and Jordan Lyons ’15 were accepted into the University of UofLChoir_2Louisville’s Honor Choir and performed with the choir last month. (See picture at right.)
  • Jonathan Simpson ’16 performed last month with the Kentucky All-State Jazz Band; he was our first student ever to apply and be accepted to the All-State Jazz Band.
  • Aliya March ’16 notched the top 20 finish ever for a St. Francis bowler in regional competition, coming in 13th at the recent tournament!
  • Emmaly Saliga ’16 and Allyson Majors ’15 won second and third places, respectively, in the Poetry division of the annual Literary LEO writing competition. This is a general adult competition, not one geared toward students, so their wins are particularly impressive. Emmaly’s poem is entitled “Everyone” and can be found here; Allyson’s is called “Being Picked Up by an Absent Father” and is here.

Each semester, students earning all As and Bs in their classes are recognized on the Honor Roll. Congratulations to the following students!
