Lots to Report, Lots to Look Forward to

By Reed Gabhart, Head of the Goshen Campus

As we head towards our spring parent-teacher conferences, we have a handful of students to recognize and some things to look forward to as well!

First, I hope you were able to make it to the High School Campus to see their first-ever musical, Avenue Q: School Edition, last weekend!  It was a perfect choice for their inaugural musical: irreverent and edgy and full of wonderful songs and inspired performances by both High School and Goshen theater students! Congratulations are in order to 8th graders Amelia Dimas, Caroline Frederick, Eston McLeroy and Carolyn Siegenthaler for taking on the opportunity of performing in the chorus of a High School production! And, of course, congratulations are in order to Director Rachael Dobring and Musical Director Bob Bertke for their excellent work.

CarolynSArtworkAnd speaking of Carolyn, she is really on a roll! She found out this week that a piece of her artwork won an award in the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation Student Art Contest! Carolyn drew a beautiful picture of a Pegasus and will get to attend an awards celebration later this month. Kudos to her and art teacher Alex Taylor for making this opportunity possible.

Our 6th grade girls’ basketball team are getting a unique honor this week! Coach Shannon Ragland has arranged for our undefeated girls to take a trip to the state Capitol in Frankfort to be recognized! They will meet Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, and will also be honored on the floor of the state Legislature!
Wow! Thanks to Shannon for setting this up; I’m sure this is an experience the girls will always remember.

Finally, four of our 5th grade Governor’s Cup team members who finished in the top five in local competition are competing in the regionals this Saturday! Best of luck to Lucy Frederick, Amelia Gorman, Jack Rutherford and Meredith Snyder! Go Wyverns!

P.S. We’re also having a SFS “March Madness” Dance on Friday, March 18th here from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.! Prizes will be awarded for “Best 3-Point Shooter” and “Best Fanatic!” $5 for grades 6-8. Students should wear their team’s colors!
