The girls’ JV team opened its season last Saturday against Brown. Lily Prohaska and Rose GIlbert pulled out wins but St. Francis ultimately fell 8-4. The girls’ varsity team beat Seneca on Monday night 2-1, with Madeline Case leading the way. They played Eastern on Wednesday and suffered a 6-1 defeat without #1 player Eva Borders. Emma Boland and Talia Blue pulled out a victory in their doubles match.

The boys’ varsity team easily beat Seneca on Monday, with Andrew Thurstone and 8th grader Alan Ziegler dominating their opponents. They took on St. X on Wednesday, led by Jamie Anderson’s win at #1 singles. The rest of the squad hung tough but were defeated.

The MS boys’ baseball team took the field for their first-ever game on Tuesday against KCD. The team played well and stayed close throughout the game. Lake Mackin started on the mound and pitched three great innings, leaving with the game tied at 4 apiece. With the score tied at 5 in the bottom of the 5th, a couple of Wyvern errors and some KCD hits ended the game in favor of the Bearcats. Up next for St. Francis is a Tuesday night matchup with Collegiate at Buechel Park 5:30 p.m.
