A Day of Awards, Fun and Tributes

Today is one of my very favorite days of the school year – our annual Advisee Group final breakfasts, Awards Day, and Senior Luncheon.  Awards Day is a tradition in which students, faculty and staff gather for awards that range from serious to silly.  It always feels like a fitting conclusion to the school year, a reflection of the close community that is St. Francis.  Then the faculty and staff and the seniors meet parents at the Senior Luncheon (this year held at the Brown Hotel), where the faculty and staff speak individually about each senior.  The community feel of the morning continues into the afternoon, as the heartfelt tributes and gentle jokes shared by the adults of St. Francis send each of our beloved almost-graduates off in fitting style.

And then, after the utter loveliness of Friday, we all come back down to earth next week for final exams!  You’ll see the schedule posted in this newsletter.  Exams conclude on Thursday afternoon, May 26th, and we will post grades in the parent portal the following week (and email you to let you know they’re ready).

Everyone is welcome to join us for Graduation next Friday, May 27th at 4:00 p.m. at Actors Theatre (Pamela Brown Auditorium).  We can’t wait to have one last chance to celebrate the 46 amazing graduates from the Class of 2016!

The weeks of summer break will pass quickly, and it’ll be time to greet the 2016-17 school year!  I’ve got one of the best jobs I could ever imagine, getting to work with the amazing students, faculty, staff and parents of St. Francis School.  I wish you all a wonderful summer – see you in August!
