Science Olympiad

Since 1996, St. Francis students have met huge success as participants in the regional and state Science Olympiad competitions.  They have demonstrated their acumen and adaptability by placing among the top teams in the region each year, including 1st place in 2003-04!

Science Olympiad consists of twenty-three team-building and problem-solving events that challenge the student’s academic and engineering abilities.  Each student usually participates in at least one building activity and several academic events that require preparation during Elective Project times on Wednesdays, after school and at home.  Motivated students that are interested in any area of science will find the Science Olympiad team a challenging and rewarding extracurricular experience.

The Regional competition is an all-day event the last Saturday in March at Jefferson Community College Southwest.  The State competition is an all-day Saturday, usually in mid-April at Western Kentucky University.
