Preschool Admissions Process
I. TOUR OF THE PRESCHOOL
Tours are available weekdays, by appointment. Tour reservations are made by contacting the Preschool Office (228-0165) at least a day in advance. Touring parents will have the opportunity to meet with the Preschool Director and visit classes for all age groups—twos, threes and fours.
II. APPLICATION
Parents complete the application and return it to the Preschool Office with a non-refundable application fee of $50.00.
III. ASSESSMENT
Applicants for Junior Kindergarten at the Preschool will be scheduled for a developmental assessment designed to measure readiness for structured learning activities.
IV. CLASSROOM VISIT
All children entering the program will participate in a classroom visit in order to assist in the transition process.
V. SPECIAL NEEDS
Parents of a child who requires special services should provide evaluation materials and a copy of the child's IEP (Individual Education Plan) at the time of application. St. Francis School makes every effort to accommodate children, striving always to respect the diversity of learners.
VI. ADMISSION AND PLACEMENT
The Admissions Committee will review each applicant's file and notify parents expediently regarding acceptance and placement. At times, due to space restrictions, St. Francis is unable to meet a family's preference for class placement. Families who are not offered their preferred class, but accept a second or third choice, will automatically be placed on a waiting list for the first-choice class.
